Manta Ray is a simple, elegant linen scarf employing mostly garter stitch, designed to showcase Maiwa’s gorgeous Naturally Dyed Linen Honest Yarn. When laid flat its shape is not unlike a Manta Ray. It can be worn wrapped around your neck as a cowl or decoratively draped and fastened with a pin.

Materials

  • 400 yards/365 meters fingering weight yarn. Image sample shows Maiwa Honest Yarn Fingering Linen in the light indigo colourway.
  • There is also one photo of this shawl knit in Everlea Worsted (with 4.5mm knitting needles) with the main colour Medium Indigo. The larger gauge yarn and needles make for a bigger shawl.
  • One pair of 4US/3.5mm 32” circular needles with sharp tips.
  • 2 stitch markers that are not the exactly the same. You will use one to determine which rows you will be increasing on.
  • a locking stitch holder or row counter

Gauge
24 stitches and 48 rows in garter stitch is 4” square (blocked)

Final Measurements after being blocked:
55” long from curved tip to curved tip
15” deep along center stitches
