Bio Shetland Dynamic Gradient (purples, red and blue)

This listing is for five handpicked skeins of BC Garn’s organic Bio Shetland fingering weight yarn. This is a gorgeous low loft yarn in stunning colourways, perfect for tapestry. The colours I chose offer a variety of values (lights, mediums and darks) - exactly what you need for success in colourwork. They are stunning in person.

Weft Face Weaving: using #12 cotton seine twine as warp use this yarn as weft single stranded at 12epi, or double strand at 6epi.

Knitting Needle Size/Tension: 2.5-4.0mm | 24sts

Each 50g skein:

  • Meters Per skein: 280 m
  • Yards Per skein: 306 yds

This yarn is 100% GOTS Certified Organic Wool
GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is a guarantee of focus on the environment and sustainability in all stages of the manufacturing process. Requirements in relation to the dyeing process, handling of waste water and energy usage are monitored on an ongoing basis, along with social ethics and worker related aspects of the manufacturing process. The final yarn's quality is also inspected. GOTS is a world-wide acknowledged environmental branding which only certified distributors may use.

How much yarn do you need for my online workshop?
For all Everlea workshops choose two or more differing colour groups. This will give you more than enough yardage for 10+ tapestries on my looms and plenty of colour and value options.

How to choose which groupings:
For the best colourwork results, choose two or more groups which are very different from each other - from there, there are no bad choices. There are four main hues: Blues, purples, greens, and reds. Choose from different hues to get the most variety and colour success (ie green+red, red+blue, red+purple, green+purple etc). Avoid getting two from the same hue. Follow your gut when it comes to preference, but don't be afraid to try something different.

This gradient is the 'purples, magenta and blue' gradient woven in the last picture, which is paired with the 'greens+yellow' gradient.
