Norwegian knitting

Yesterday at my new nephew's baby shower I knit him a short-sleeved Flax Light (a Tin Can Knits pattern) that I had cast on at 9pm the night before and knit to the sleeve separation. While I was knitting my sister-in-law's aunt Eva sat next to me and urged me to learn the Norwegian method of knitting that she and her family have used for generations. It seems very similar to continental knitting, but I picked it up much faster than any of my attempts at continental - especially the knit stitch. It felt like such a gift to meet Eva and have this knowledge passed down to me during the act of making something for the first child that joins our two families! So special. My wee nephew wore his new sweater at 5:30pm that day.
